Gun control has been a very big, conflicting topic for a very long time. There are so many different views on gun control and who knows when this conflict will be resolved and when these school shootings will come to an end. Along with all the suicides that are happening involving guns, it needs to end. This issue seems to be getting worse, and the policies they have now are not working like they should be.
Statistics show that in 2002 increase in gun control the crime rate involving firearms have dropped. In Australia in the course of 25 years with the strict gun laws in place the crime rate involving firearms has dropped 49%. With the idea of stricter gun laws in
Do we need gun control laws,or should everyone own a gun for self- defense? The goal in this paper is to show why gun control is not the answer. The Second Amendment is not outdated. This Amendment has protected our rights and freedoms as citizens of the U.S.
The second amendment and gun control are one of the highly debated topics in the United States. Many people argue that second amendment is dangerously leading to gun violence and it should be controlled to avoid further unfortunate incidents. While on the other hand, others believe that right to bear arm is very important because it protects them from criminals. But isn’t people’s life more worthy than right to carry guns? So,the U.S government should find the best way to make strong and effective gun laws and lessen gun use to protect people from gun violence.
Topic: Unlawful possession of firearms should have stricter enforcement in its principle. Claim: The court have interpreted that Arms Act 1960 corresponds to the possession of firearms but the enforcement of law contain several flaws and should be changed by imposing stricter inspection of firearms. Thesis Statement: Unlawful possession of firearms should have stricter enforcement in its principle because it helps to curb black market, borrowing firearms, and regulating the responsibilities on particular duties.
Gun Control in the United States Gun control in the United States has become a highly contested topic recently due to the mass shootings that have occurred. The Federal Bureau of Investigation defines mass murder as a murder in which four or more people are killed in one incident (Morton). Over the past decade the topic of gun control has been prevalent in new legislation because mass shootings seem more frequent. Statistics reveal that although mass shootings have not become more frequent over the years, they have become deadlier with higher death tolls than ever before. The firearms and ammunition that civilians are able to obtain since the expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban in 2004 have led to the increase in the death toll (Duwe).
Gun violence is a constant problem in the United States of America. It has affected society and out youth negatively in the past and will continue to affect the country as a whole if nothing is done about it. The country is in mourning due to the recent influx of gun violence related crimes. There are common-sense reforms that either side can agree on. These include improvements to backgrounds checks, revisions of the Second Amendment that accommodate the modern innovations to firearms and reinstating the Center for Disease Control's research on gun violence.
This is an academic article that is part of an academic journal entitled “Rural Sociology.” The article utilizes 20 interviews with police officers from a rural sheriff’s department to, provide an indepth examination of how rural police officers in the U.S. view gun control. The article provides many direct quotes from active and retired officers. This one is from a officer named Kent who has been working with law enforcement for nearly 40 years. “I would say that [rural upbringing] probably does have some influence on it [views of gun control], because I'm thinking, “Why would you have to take a weapon away from somebody that is well-versed in how it's to be used in the proper ways?”
Some people might say that we need a gun to protect ourselves in the United States, but there are actually various ways to protect ourselves instead of using a gun according to the article, “How Americans Protect Themselves from Crime.” Transition to Conclusion: before the government legislates about the gun control law, we need to be the spearhead that is awake to this problem deeply and carefully. Restate Thesis: I am convinced that the entire civilian should not own guns to prevent the gun violence, and only government officers must be able to own guns. Review Main Points: we realize that erroneous gun possession contributes to horrible gun accidents.
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution grants its’ citizens the right to keep and bear arms. Though the Second Amendment addresses the legality of owning a firearm, the morality of owning a gun is left as an unanswered question. Since the right to bear arms is not a fundamental right and guns cause harm to innocent people, it is my position that the government should endorse stricter gun control measures, particularly automatic and semiautomatic weapons. In this paper I will argue my position of abolition by examining both premises in depth, discussing the role and duty of the government, and addressing an objection to my position.
Gun control is a term referring to the various laws and policies that regulate everything related to the use of firearms by civilians. The topic is relevant to our society, country, state, and city because of how many mass murders have happened. It is reported that “Gun violence in the United States results in tens of thousands of deaths and injuries annually. In the constitution, the second Amendment states that people have “the right to bear arms.” This Amendment has saved many lives.
Gun control problems Nowadays, we can hear the crimes related to guns from time to time, and each of them is scarified and influential. For example, the accident happened in Sandy Hook Elementary School leads to 20 deaths for primacy school students and 6 deaths for staffs. It is hard to imagine what degree of sadness in their family may suffer. In this way, many people think the government should have stronger gun control regulations.
Gun Control “During the period in which Chicago’s handgun ban was effective (1982 to 2010), 59% of all murders in Chicago were committed with handguns (data unavailable for 2000 to 2002),” (“Gun Control”, Par. 20). Chicago is considered one of the most strict of places when it comes to gun laws and the funny thing about this statistic is that, before Chicago implemented this ban, 48% of all murders were committed with handguns. Gun control as a whole has been one of the most controversial topic of today's world. Some people think that there is too much gun control and some people think there is too little gun control.
Since the Second Amendments’ ratification in 1791, Americans still debate with one another, because of its many controversy views. The amendment allows every citizen of the United States the right to own guns and to defend themselves when in danger. The problem arises when the laws being set are restricting people from their rights. There are so many gun control laws, varying from state to state. The development of arguments surrounding gun control correlates to the increased violence and altercations related to the use of fire weapons.
Guns are just a tool, like knives and hammers and it completely depends on the people on how they use it. People who support guns and arms say that the Second Amendment secures individual’s right to carry guns with them and that gun rights is needed for self-protection, and was intended for military to have peace and defend the country if needed (Spitzer, 70). Most of the Americans use guns as a source to protect themselves and they believe that gun ownership prevents crime. A study conducted on November 26, 2013 showed that bans on weapons did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level (Lane, 5). Moreover, even if the rules and regulations are executed on gun control, not all criminals obey the law.
