Melvin Santiago of the Jersey City Jersey Police Department was not simply shot in the line of duty, he was viciously ambushed by a man determined be a cop killer and, possibly, to commit suicide by cop (Kulbarsh, 2015). The attacker, Lawrence Campbell, age 27, assaulted an armed security guard inside the Walgreens pharmacy, took the guards pistol, told witnesses he was going to be famous (New Jersey police officer shot, 2014). Campbell waited in the parking lot for the first cruiser to arrive and opened fire on officer Santiago as he stepped out of his vehicle. Thirteen shots were fired, and Santiago was struck in the head. As the shooting was happening, other officers arrived and began firing at Campbell from their vehicles.
On the morning of April 10, 2017, just before 10:30am, a school in San Bernardino, California was shot up by a lone gunman. He shot his wife, who was a special education teacher at the elementary school, which killed her. He also shot 2 children, killing one and wounding another. This is the second shooting in San Bernardino in the past 3 years. The first one was back in December 2015, which was a terrorist attack at the Ireland Regional Center, with approximately ;16 deaths.
Everyone has heard of the tragic event in Orlando, a lot of people have been sympathizing with everyone who got killed and who got injured. Recent reports showed the identity of the killer in the mass shooting and people expect it to somehow explain the severity of the crime. Omar Mateen, a muslim american, aged 29 years old was responsible for the crime in Orlando. HE was heavily armed at the time of the crime.
On February 14, 2018, a mass shooting occurred in Parkland Florida. The shooter, Nicholas Cruz, opened fire on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Seventeen innocent students were shot and killed, while 17 others were injured. In my first article, Parkland Gunman Was Still Firing When Police Arrived on a Gruesome Scene by Patricia Mazzei, we learn that Cruz had not ceased fire even after police had arrived.
He was claimed to have used justifiable use of force though he was told not to follow Trayvon, and he was not suppose to have gun being the community watchman. Due to the conditions that triggered the shooting this induced major media
Both suspects were unarmed and harmless so ending their lives was an action that shouldn’t have happened. Michael Brown was facing the police officer to basically surrender when he was shot 12 times. Brown’s friend that was present when his death happened told MSNBC, “The officer came up to us and told us to “get the **** on the sidewalk” and then threatened us by saying “I’m going to shoot you.” (Johnson, NBC News). This is a prime example of police brutality and excessive use of violence.
Today, 14 people were killed and 17 others were wounded by the mass shooting that occurred in San Bernardino- California. Three gunmen entered the social service center located in San Bernardino and opened fire on people. Witnesses claimed that the shooters were armed with long guns, wearing ski masks and military-style vests. The chief police Jarrod Burguan alarmed the people to be safe because one of the killers is still free and they didn’t find him yet. However, the police managed to identify one of the killers called Syed Farooq.
On January the Seventh, two radical Muslims from the Islamic State attacked a newspaper in Paris, France called; Charlie Hebdo, because of a series of nude cartoons that were released in the newspaper depicting the Muslim prophet Mohammed. Twelve people were killed in the attack on Charlie. Four of those people were the actual cartoonists who edited, approved and drew the cartoon. The other eight were simply just workers at Charlie. The two radicals were able to escape the building, but were later killed at a French printing press.
Sandy Hook School Shooting and Its Anniversary There has been multiple tragedies that have shocked America over the years. Many dealing with gun violence including the Columbine Shooting in 1999, the Virginia Tech Shooting in 2007, and the Umpqua Community College School Shooting in 2015. These tragedies we still look back on and remember those that were lost and those that survived. The shooting at Sandy Hook School is the one that recently had an anniversary.
Their was 10 deaths including the person who killed the people. These types of things I honestly have no clue why someone would think this is okay to do. I believe if you think about doing these things you need help. These are some of the reasons I could see having tighter gun control would have a positive effect. Now, my conclusion.

Lone wolf terror attacks have become more dangerous than even leading terror organizations, like ISIS and and Al Qaeda. A Lone wolf terrorist encompasses any act of terror committed by one individual alone, however he/she may act in support of a larger group. LWT attacks are in America are perpetrated by right wing extremists, homegrown jihadist or mentally ill who are denied by society. On June 12th of last year, 29 year old US citizen Omar Mateen shot fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, striping the lives of 50 innocent souls. The gunman dialed 911 about an hour into the shooting, “...I pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi of the Islamic State" (3 Hours).
There were even reports of people being shot and injured by the sniper fire. Most of these deaths by snipers were police men. By dawn of the next day rioters lit fires across the city. Many firefighters were called to the scenes of the fires. But once they made it to the scene they were pelted by rocks and glass bottles.
It was here that a single gunman attacked white officers in what he later told police negotiators were a targeted retribution for the police killings of black
They were all under police control. They were all shot. And they were all killed. These are only three people out of uncounted others who have lost their lives because of police possession of destructive weapons.
