Going into this play I had no idea what it was going to be about. I’ve heard about Hamlet before, I feel like it’s a well known play. After seeing Avenue Q at TCR I was super impressed with the acting, and everything about the production and the place. So, with this being in my mind I figured Hamlet would be the same. Unfortuently, I didn't love Hamlet, I think I really liked Avenue Q because it was funny and more modern. Hamlet in my opinion was hard for me to follow what was going on because of how it’s written by Shakespeare. I also liked how the stage was set up. It was simple, yet it didn't need anything else to make the play better. Something that really stood out to me that I thought was a little silly, was when a group of 5 people came out and started playing music while another guy told a story. I thought it was a little strange, but at this point I didn't really know what was going on either. The lighting was used to an advantage during the play, it enhanced everything that was going on, I didn't think it was used too much or too little. It might just have been me, but I felt like sitting in the audience it was very bright. The last play I went to I remembered it being only the stage being lit up, but maybe since TCR isn't as big as the Cadillac Theatre in Chicago that’s why it felt strongly bright to me. All in all, I didn't think the play was bad. All the acting, costumes, set, and all that jazz was great! I think the only reason why I wasn’t super into this play was because I don't understand Shakespeare as well as I probably should. I would tell someone to go see it if they are into that kind of stuff. Personally I like musicals, and play’s that I’m more familiar with. Although, I’m glad I got to go to this play because it was something I probably wouldn't have seen before or gone to if I wasn't in this
