Hamlet is one of the greatest tragedies of the 19th century, was also considered to be a fashionable problem play. This story has complications that focus on love, betrayal death, and revenge. The movie is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes long. This movie was published December 19 1990, by Caryn James, and was released on January 18th 1991. The genre to this movie would have to be a drama and a tragedy. There are many themes to this movie, one of them being madness another being revenge, another being mortality, you could go on and on. Hamlets purpose in this story was to get revenge for his father, so he does that very thing. Hamlet is a very interesting character, and this movie has a lot of detail and a lot of conflict. I think that this movie was powerful but also difficult, because it shows Hamlet getting revenge but hamlet also dies, so it shows how getting revenge isn’t always the smart thing to do because you might get yourself killed. I think a weakness of the movie would be the language that they speak, it’s kind of an off English. In the end what I would have liked to have happen would be for Hamlet to somehow stay alive instead of dying from the poison. I found the movie to be very interesting because Mel Gibson is Hamlet and he is a good actor. Mel Gibson was the perfect person to play Hamlet in my opinion. He is a good actor because he understood the character of Hamlet and you need to know how to be able to understand the character so you can play the part. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this movie to someone from my generation, because my generation is corrupt and would watch five minutes of the movie, then turn it off. But I would probably recommend it to one of my parents or grandparents because they would have more of an understanding to the
