This is a story of Harriet Tubman and her life events. After being born a slaves she finally escaped and helped others, she eventually became the conductor of the underground railroad. Harriet Tubman was born a slave in Maryland, Dorchester county around 1820. Her birth name was Araminta Ross but changed it when she escaped slavery in 1849. She got the name Harriet from her mother and Tubman from her 1st husband. Her life was cut short at age 5 when she was given the job the take care of an infant, then at age 7 she was hired to collect muskrats from traps. She suffered a head injury when she was a teenager to a overseer that threw a piece of metal at a runaway slave, missed and hit her instead that caused her to have Narcolepsy, sleeping spells, and hallucinations. …show more content…
Black lives didn’t mean anything back then because white thought they were everything and had to the rule over everything. Harriet did what she needed to do as a slave and at age 25 she met a free man who she married, his name was John Tubman. He was her whole world and wanted him to escape with her, but he didn’t live the same dream she did, he told her if she tried to escape he would tell her master. She wasn’t going to stay there and still be a slave because she knew being free was the life she wanted. She left to go to Philadelphia without him. Harriet changed her name, clothes, and appearance and got a job to saved her money, she wanted to go back for her husband but when she returned he had married another woman. So she help others escape so they could be free like she was. She helped others escape through the “Underground Railroad”.
