Freedom, equality, all things this man dreamed of for slaves. Fredrick Douglas was a man who desired these traits as a slave. Fredrick learned to read as a young boy. He was special by doing this because he was basically the only one who could read and write. Later in his life he learned more about slavery and his life he lived as a slave. He soon realized what slavery was and he was not impressed at the least. Through reading and writing he grew a hatred for slavery. He eventually thought his ability to read and write was a curse and a blessing.
