Celebrities Take a Stand against NASA’s Monkey Radiation Experiments Back in 2009, the US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) opted to fund a research proposed by Dr. Jack Bergman, a Behavior Pharmacologist at Harvard University Medical School’s McLean Hospital. Dr. Bergman has gained a reputation for his research studies done on primates over the past two decades. The research involved subjecting 27 squirrel monkeys to high-energy gamma-ray radiation, and then observing how they performed tasks afterward to see if the radiation affected them in any way. Great apes’ such as bonobos, chimpanzees, and gorillas perspective—talking skills has increased throughout the years. The hypothesis they’ll be investigating will be the prediction that bonobos, and chimpanzees show a greater understanding of the role of barriers in visual perception than would other apes. The method involves a long procedure and setup for their experiment, they had many different subjects of apes housed indoor and outdoor at the Leipzig Zoo, Germany. The design and method of this experiment was to set up four conditions resulting from crossing the variables of target presence and barrier type. The four variables were opaque-target condition, opaque/no-target, window-target, and window/no-target.
The Scopes Monkey Trial was an important event in history that still holds resonance today. The South during the 1920’s was still recovering from Reconstruction after the war. Which means that the South was not in favor of any National attention that could possibly be avoided. This case being in the South as well as being such a controversial topic, created a separation between the newer town of Dayton (did not mind attention) and the state of Tennessee(did not want attention). Out of which came an array of views on whether this trial should even be held or not.

Ask the children to point out the differences between each puppy, for example eye colour, fur colour, size, short or long fur etc. Ask questions of regardless of each difference would they love the puppy any less, would they be less interesting if the puppy was white or brown, just to generate a discussion. Who actually won the Scopes Monkey Trial? The case wasn’t closed with a clear winner or loser. In my opinion, there was no winner, there was and still is no set religion or set course of study for science. Many people have argued over whether creationism or evolution is right, but people don’t always focus on what the schools are teaching us. Creationism used to be the primary belief, and now more and more people are losing faith and looking at evolution.

Many Primates go insane, rocking back and forth, pacing endlessly in the cages, and engaging in repetitive motions such as back-flipping. The primates also self harm themselves by tearing out their own hair or biting their own flesh. There was video footage taken inside Covance, the University of Utah, and the Oregon National Primate Research Center illustrates the extent of the insanity that can result when primates are completely deprived of meaningful sensory stimulation. The procedures they do to primates are Pharmaceutical tests which is a thick gavage tubes are forced up primates’ nostrils or down the animals’ throats so that experimental drugs can be pumped into their stomach, Vaccine tests is when chimpanzees and rhesus monkey are given
Explain how some instructional strategies have proven to be instrumental in helping children function more competently and independently? Instructional strategies help children function in their own natural environments. The strategies give children the ability to adapt and become independent. However, after reading chapter four in the Raver text, I was able to gain a better understanding of certain instructional strategies. When I think of modeling, the first thing that comes to mind is, this child is observing me.
Recently, I have been researching about whole brain teaching and trying to incorporate these strategies into the classroom.
His studies showed that the babies sought the comfort of the terry cloth mom monkey no matter which mom fed them. This study to me, would have been better, had he added one more element, such as a real live female monkey, the baby monkey would have most likely preferred the touch, feel and communication she provided,
While observing children, whether in person at my job, or through a movie, it is not hard to relate it to what I learned in developmental psychology. The movie Daddy Day Care was interesting to watch because I could apply the information I learned to analyze the movie. Throughout the beginning of the movie there were many inappropriate child care practices and activities. The lunch was not healthy for the children, they were eating candy and junk food.
The second monkey who had not fed the baby had just a cloth in its chest resembling a actual monkey. This caused the monkey to cling on to it and made a bond with just the fur of the monkey. Now, in the movies case it is not about a monkey who was given two options at birth. But about a boy who had not been given loving comfort at birth. He grew up having an abusive relationship with his foster father.

Studying captive primates can help us learn not only how they behave, but also how they are similar or different to each other and humans as well as give us insight into the effects of captivity. This paper will be describing, comparing, and contrasting the behavior of two species of captive primates at the Alexandria Zoo, golden lion tamarins and howler monkeys, as well as discussing the possible effects captivity could have had on them. This paper will also discuss any human-like behaviors observed in the two primate species and what we as humans could learn about our own behavior by studying primates. The two primates I observed were 1 of 3 golden lion tamarins (Leontopithecus rosalia) all of unknown gender and a solitary female howler
Theory Involved. The theory that I have chosen is the behavioral theory by Wolery whereby it is based on the three core assumptions. Behavioral learning theory is based on three core assumptions: I) behavior is conceptualized within a three-term contingency that includes antecedents, behavior, and consequences. 2) antecedent stimuli and prior experience of consequences will affect behavioral reactions; and 3) effective teaching incorporates control of antecedents and consequences (Wolery et al. 1988). For this study, Wolvery behavioral learning theory was used as the fundamental framework on this topic chosen which is teaching children with autism.
