Explain how some instructional strategies have proven to be instrumental in helping children function more competently and independently? Instructional strategies help children function in their own natural environments. The strategies give children the ability to adapt and become independent. However, after reading chapter four in the Raver text, I was able to gain a better understanding of certain instructional strategies. The rules of language components are form, content, and use. Form is the sounds and words that make up language. Content is word combinations, which is when the curiosity sets in. Having a daily routine and interacting during play time will have children learning speech and language. Hearing other children or caregivers describe an object will cause the child with a disability to be eager to learn a new word. They become interested in learning new words. Direct approaches involve structure, prompting, and modeling. An example of direct approach will be telling Kimmy this is an orange ball, and today we will roll the orange ball. This will encourage Kimmy to want to say and use the orange
