Social media has become an addiction, but this is caused by overprotective parents and the lack of free time that a teenager receives. The evidence can be found in in page 96, which states that “ the reason my children do not hang out as I used to as a teen’s is not do to predators necessary, but do to other teens who have been raised by MTV…” as well as page 84, which states that “it like everyone says all this bad things about it. It does take up your time. It does, but you can’t help it.” To whom or what have individuals who ‘overuse’ social media become addicted? (give evidence) Teens have become addicted to social media to the lack of one to one socialization. A teen stated in the books that “The activities she participated in where quite formal, leaving little room for casual interactions as she raced from one pursuit to the next”. Some teenagers life is so busy, that the only way to communicate with friends is through the use of social median during the transition from one thing to another. This in a way supports the thesis of the chapter 3, its complicated, because of the way people use social media to interact with others, and it brings up a concern of addiction. In It’s Complicated, the major cause of the usage of social media among teens was to to parents restriction to leave the house, and it became an addiction. In “We Are Hopelessly Hooked”, it indicates that teens use social media what ever they go, even though both articles might contradict each other, they are still arguing the situation. That teens are to attached to their social life regardless of parental supervision though the use of the
