Iron mans can be a grueling task at hand. With support from others and a strong minded approach they can be overcomes. The author of “Hawaii Ironman: An Irongirls Story” develops the theme “to finish to win” through the story of Greta. To finish is to win means it's not whether you come in first or last, it's whether you complete it and never give up. Greta had to face many challenges along the way of completion, but she never stopped trying and that led her past the finish line with hundreds of people supporting her. In addition, iron mans consist of 3 different exercises with extreme distances. The swimming portion is 2.4 miles, biking is 112 miles and running a 26.2 marathon. Greta trained her body by running every week and waking up early to workout “When she first...woke up at 6:30 A.M. every morning...weekly average of 200 miles on her bike and running between 35 and 50 miles a week”. She had to wake up at 5:30 A.M. to receive her number for the race. While swimming she started to get tired ,but she pushed through. She drank a bottle of Gatorade to ensure she doesn't become dehydrated “Greta downed a bottle of Gatorade, put on her helmet, and headed out”. Greta wasn't going to let thirst become a factor in whether she achieves her dream. Then she started the biking. The beginning was challenging for her as she went up steep hills, and made herself eat because she knew that if she didn't have food she would lose her energy “Greta knew that if she didn't eat...she would deprive her body...and run out of energy”. Greta overcame all her challenges in order to get to the last part of the race...the marathon. She started getting dizzy and had to eat energy gels in order to keep going “She dug deep inside of herself for strength to continue” Greta trained herself through her whole life to be ready for this moment and she kept pushing herself to
