Mission Statement I, Holly Modlin, in the 2015-16 school year will strive to learn new things. I value honesty and respect. I also value responsibility, and hard work. One of my goals is to be able to do a left handed lay-up in a basketball game. Another one of my goal is to get A’s in all of my classes.
The National Honor Society (NHS) stands by such values as Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and character; it is these values that I strive to live by. I have received the opportunity to become a proud member of the NHS, and have been humbled by this chance. Throughout my high school career I try to be involved in anything I can help the school, from being a part of community service activities. Also, I have achieved my goal to work as hard as I possibly can to stand out among my peers. Even outside of school I have worked to uphold the values of club, and shall continue to do so if I chosen.
In the Dynastic cycle, the Qing and Ming Dynasties of ancient China showed similar periods of decline.they share their periods because they both were taken over for being corrupt and getting taken down by rebellion. The dynasties are very different from each other but share some similarities. First, I will be talking about the differences that the two dynasties have.one example is from the Ming dynasty they were not originally from China but the Ming dynasty was from China.another difference that they share is that the Ming dynasty had a very strong and cruel authoritarian government. On the other hand, the qing dynasty had a strong economic system so the valued trade.the Ming dynasty still valued trade but not as strongly as the Qing dynasty.
I hope to bring diversity to all who walk on the campus. My background has shaped me into the intelligent African American woman I am today. Without growing up in the “hood”, I may have not been able to find the best career that interested me. I also would not have been able over all the challenges thrown at me. Instead I remained determined and motivated so that I was able to achieve all of the goals set before me.
Morehouse School of Medicine prides itself on improving the health and well being of people of color and those in underserved populations, which I believe is congruent with my aspirations. As a teen, I spent my first two years of high school living in Montego Bay, Jamaica. My experience as an underserved minority living in the Caribbean allowed me a direct view of the health care disparities in an underserved population and gave me the unique perspective into the needs of this cohort. After that time, I went on to attend an inner-city high school plagued by violence and drug abuse. During my senior year alone, I lost three of my classmates to gun violence.
The Morehead Honors Program opens many doors for the receivers. Several magnificent programs and internships are offered to students that are part of this wonderful program; these include an internship in Frankfort, an intensive summer research program for students interested in medicine or dentistry, a commitment to host a show on the campus television station for a year, and a year-long volunteering experience working with children in after-school programs. Honestly, the volunteering experience in after-school programs for children interests me enormously. Along with building onto my existing skills, I will develop new skills, grow as a person due to the experience, and face my fears and anxieties. I believe I would thoroughly enjoy that
I am the peacemaker in my family; I bring people together. I have a very positive outlook on life. People tell me that I am the happiest, most optimistic person they know. I think my outlook will add a lot to the Honors Program. Even in the bleakest situations, I can always find the good and encourage others to keep pressing on.
Although this hard work and success was sparked by my relation to Amelia Earhart, it has developed into an all-around love for education and self-improvement. Today, I am an individual dedicated to expanding knowledge, leadership, and service. As soon as it became available to

According to Erickson’s theory, Ego Integrity vs. Despair, Betty is at a level of Ego of Integrity. She feels whole and satisfied with her achievements and has adapted to her life’s triumphs and disappointments. She had attained a sense of completeness and cohesion of herself (Theris A. Touhy, 2016, p. 37). I asked her, “How would you describe your life now? What activities do you enjoy and how do you spend your time?”
During the summer of 2015, I drove to Lipscomb University’s campus with my mandatory khaki shorts and a positive attitude. I knew it was an honor that I was given the chance to attend Volunteer Girls State, but I had no idea to what extent. I grab my bags, walk to registration, and instantaneously get fixed inside a cloud of smiles, greetings, and positivity. It was almost overwhelming just how cheerful the atmosphere was, but it was tremendously refreshing. I told my mom goodbye and glanced over my busy itinerary with my roommate just before heading to the first of many Davis City meetings.
