Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863, to his parents William and Mary Ford in Dearborn, Michigan. Henry was the oldest of six children, but he gave his parents the most joy out of all of them. Henry was a smart boy and liked to use his hands, so he fell in love with mechanics. He loved taking and rebuilding things, when Henry was just seven years of age, he got taught from one of the workers how to take apart and rebuild watches so. With this knowledge Henry would go around fix peoples watches for them. When Christmas or a birthday came along all his siblings would have to hide their toys because Henry was like a little thief and would take their toys and disassemble them. This was very difficult for Henry because he wasn't sure if this was 100 going to work out the way he wanted it to. Henry made up his mind and was going to pursue gasoline powered engines. With this decision Henry had to act quick. Him and some of his friends started a company called Detroit Automobile Company, they founded this company on August 5, 1899. The company had to build an automobile quick and it had to sell so they went with the best option a delivery wagon. Henry and Clara had a son named Edsel on November 6, 1893, Edsel was the only kid the couple had, so they loved him very much, henry would spend hours of his days playing and taking photos with Edsel. When Edsel was a little older they enrolled him into school, Edsel was a very good student his lowest grade was a B+ but he would almost always get A's. At only eight years old Edsel could drive a car since back then there was no age restriction.
After Edsel finished school his Father Henry wanted him to join the Ford Motor company, so he did. Moving up in the ranks very quickly he became a member of the Ford motor company board of directors.
