One of America's premier industrialist, Henry Ford revolutionized the use of the assembly line in the production of automobiles. Henry Ford was born July 30, 1863, near Dearborn Michigan on his families farm(6). Ford grew up doing farm-work around the
house as a child. He soon began to think about reassembling things and how it would feel to take something apart and put it back together. When Ford was 13 years old, his father gifted him a pocket watch, which he unexpectedly took apart and reassembled(6). When his friends and neighbors saw Henry began fixing their timepieces upon request(6). Three years later at the age of 16, Ford left home to take on an apprenticeship as a machinist at a shipbuilding firm in Detroit(6), He learned how to proficiently operate and service steam engines, and would also study bookkeeping(6). In the year 1888, Ford married a woman named Clara Ala Bryant. After the marriage he briefly returned to farmwork to support his wife, and son Edsel(6).
