Henry Ford use of the assembly line became the benchmark for mass production methods all around the world (Lewis 90). In 1913, Ford designed his first moving assembly line which revolutionized his manufacturing process of him Ford Model T (Lewis 90). The assembly line was a motorized conveyor belt that moved the car to the workers, who would then add one part to the car as the car passed them (Rosenberg 1). The motorized assembly line significantly cut the time, and thus cost, of manufacturing each car and Ford passed on the savings to the customer (Rosenberg 1).
