n the movement toward large-scale business and mass production, the automobile industry was one of those that led the way. In 1903, Ford sold its first Ford car. The price for a Ford car was high until they lowered it in 1907. Ford wanted to make it affordable and possible for everyone to own a car. They figured that the key to that would be mass production. They used the techniques that the meatpacking industry used, of moving animal carcasses along overhead trolleys from station to station, to assemble automobiles.
