“The Tale of Three Brothers” was first introduced in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and last book in the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling. In the story arc, one of the main character, Hermione Granger, narrates the story from her copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. The tales were commonly read to children as bedtimes stories because they’re “told to amuse rather than instruct” (Rowling 409). The Three of Three Brothers relates how three brothers cheated Death and received gifts from him. These three gifts united would make its owner “the Master of Death”. In the magical world, Invisibility Cloaks exists, but they are not, generally, efficient. They may rip or deteriorate due to age. However, Death’s cloak is unique, it has never aged after being passed down generation after generation. Death would use his cloak to sneak up on people, “sometimes he gets bored of running at them” (Rowling 408). In this scenario, Death isn’t always hidden in the shadows. So, that could mean that Ignotus did not wear the cloak the entire time of his life, just in the moments where he knew that Death was close. That is how he could have lived a life, by getting married and having children without being invisible to the entire world. Until the day that he decided it was time for him to depart this life, after obtaining a certain age. A normal reader would just read the story and expects to obtain a new knowledge from it. However, picking up on details you can discover that short stories could be more complex than a novel. It reminds me of a book, I don’t remember it’s exact name, but it had only pictures no words. After seeing the first picture you would realize that the picture was just a zoomed in image of another picture, and then that picture also had zoom, and so forth. It’s the same with stories, a normal reader would only see the big picture, but to understand what the author is trying to say a reader has to look at every angle that the story shows in it’s true
