An epic hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to endure overwhelming obstacles. In Edith Hamilton’s Mythology, three heros named Perseus, Theseus, and Hercules exhibit different traits that affect their journey in a positive or negative way. Perseus receives supernatural help, Theseus displays incredible strength, and Hercules has a fatal flaw that will end tragically, these qualities are what classify each as an epic hero.
Many know about the idea of the "monomyth," or the hero's journey as an outline for many of our modern books, movies, t.v. series, etc. Joseph Campbell's definition for the hero's journey is, "the quintessential (or best example) of an archetypal myth. The epic “The Odyssey” by Homer is similar to the film Hercules. In the movie Hercules takes part in a long journey in which he was trying to become a God. Hercules had to face many challenges on his way to trying and becoming a God. The first value I noticed was Hercules put his hand on the Hollywood walk.
An epic hero is one of great strengths and supernatural abilities. Beowulf is unable to be harmed by certain weapons, and Hercules has great strength. They also both go on a quest. Beowulf seeks to kill the evil Grendel, Hercules set out on a quest to complete the 12 labors.
Every hero archetype has to experience the journey. James Campbell, a scholar who studied mythology across the world defines archetypes as people such as a mother figure, a father figure, a hero, a maiden,or a trickster. A hero is a person who has curiosity, humility, and is courageous. In addition, a hero goes out of their way to reach their goal, even if that means putting their life on the line for others or for a set accomplishment. Furthermore, the hero archetype must experience the three stages of the Hero’s Journey which includes The Departure, The Initiation, and The Return.
The hero has extraordinary strength, being the strongest man on earth he is sometimes he is unaware of the power he posses, Hercules is invulnerable. Although worshiped as a God, he was properly a hero. In his early years, Hercules defeated Thebes from the armies of a neighboring city. Since he was young
Mythology is a collection of myths and stories belonging to a particular belief system or cultural tradition. Even though there are a variety of different myths taught around the world, Greek mythologies are more famously known for their fruitful stories and complex relationships. Greek mythologies mostly concern their gods and heroes such as; Hercules, Achilles, Theseus, and Perseus. Of the many Greek heroes, Jason is the most heroic due to the fact that although he is abandoned at a very young age, he is still able to survive, also he proves to Hera the goddess who hated heroes that he is worthy to be favoured by her, and he completes the impossible quest of the Golden Fleece. Jason is born in a very superior family, having a father who is the lawful king of Iolcus.
The archetype for Hercules the Myth appears as an innocent archetype. Hercules quest is to remain in safety which is his spot on Mt.Olympus. Hercules has a fear of being abandoned. Hercules abandoned himself after he killed his family and was thrown off Mt.Olympus. Eurystheus was Hercules dragon.
One of the differences between the myth and the movie can be seen right in the beginning. Hercules is the son of Zeus and Hera, and not Zeus and one of his many mortal wives. Hera even cares about him, and so does Zeus. They have a party and everything.
In this analysis my main focus would be: why Hercules was famous in Greek Myth? , how did he impact the world and its society? and what lessons can be learnt from him? Hercules, the son of Zeus, was very famous in Greek mythology because he slayed the unbeatable nine headed hydra and the famous Nemean lion. When he was a kid he strangled and killed two venomous snakes with his bare hands and also he was the only warrior in Greek myth who was half god and half human.
The scene takes place on a platform of rocks sitting on a base that appears insufficient in size to accommodate the participants and the battle they partake. On the left is Hercules who is standing upright in the foreground, caught in mid-lunge confidently aiming his bow and arrow at The Bird Of Prey. He is nude, save for the sling across his right shoulder and chest, attached to a pouch for carrying arrows at his side. His physique describes an athleticism and symmetria reminiscent of the ancient Classical period. Clear, carved lines define and emphasize the measure of proportions in his figure, and help to portray tension and movement of the muscles under his soft, smooth, and highly-polished skin.
In this paper we are going to talk about the dubbing of the songs from the movie Hercules in different dialects of the Spanish, in this case, the Spanish used in Latin America and the one that is used in Spain, because we notice that the lyrics of the songs in animated movies change due to geographical areas therefore we think that each country have their own dubbing method, for example in the song ‘I will not say that I’m in love’ from the movie, we realized that the dubbing that was made for the Spain version is more like a literal translation and this causes frequency Anglicism which cause the song to have no meaning, on the other hand its dubbing in Latin Spanish totally change the structure and the meaning but it maintains the essence
A lot of the heroes in Greek Mythology were extraordinary people back in their day because of certain traits they possessed. But would they still be considered heroes today if they were still alive? I believe that the heroes of ancient Greek times held traits that, if in our society today, would be extremely frowned upon. But, few heroes have traits that would be positive in today’s world. The three heroes that are being evaluated are Theseus, Hercules, and Perseus.
Hercules and Theseus, two great heroes from mythology, seem to be similar in many ways. Both extremely brave and noble; with a love of danger and adventure mixed with compassion, creates the perfect heroes. Their stories intertwine with one another’s when Hercules has to save Theseus from the chair of forgetfulness in Hades. Theseus saved Hercules when he was distraught with intent to kill himself. In a similar way, they both stood by their friends no matter the cost.
