“Rapunzel” a well-known fairy tale is very similar to the story of Danae. Argos, Danae’s father, locks Danae up in a tower so she has no way of having a baby that will kill him. Zeus then comes along, as a shower of gold, and gets Danae pregnant. In “Rapunzel, “She is stuck in a tower and whenever her prince wants to visit her, she lowers her “golden” hair for him to climb up. She too gets pregnant in this fairy tale.
The original Rapunzel is completely different than the one we know. It is a darker story where her parents are poor and so they give her away to a sorceress and she is locked up in a tower at the age of twelve. The reason they have to give her away is because the father stole a herd named rapunzel. Although, it is similar in a way to both the film and book since they are looking for the herb. In the story, they never mention the parents again.

The movie “Ever After” by Andy Tennant, and The short story Cinderella by Perrault, are both very different takes on the story of Cinderella. Perrault’s version of the story is the story that most of us have grown up with. It’s captivating and magical, but also it’s very one-dimensional, with a “magic pumpkin” and a “fairy godmother”. While, Tennant’s version is by far more realistic in nature, there is no magic pumpkin, but there is a prince who becomes her husband, an evil stepmother, and a pretty, kind hearted girl who slaves away doing as her stepmother demands. The “fairy godmother” does not randomly appear from no where, in “Ever After”, instead she is replaced by the great inventor Leonardo Da Vinic.

When Flynn Rider, a criminal, barges into Rapunzel’s tower, the two work out a truce through hesitant agreements. Flynn agrees to become Rapunzel’s temporary escort to view the mystical glowing lanterns which always float across the sky on her birthday, and Rapunzel agrees to return precious cargo which she seized from Flynn. The heart-pounding journey to the lanterns invokes a strong affection between the two characters leading to their marriage.
