Cursive, the Declaration of Independence was written in it. Christopher Columbus wrote his travels using it. Stated by Scholastic Scope Vol. 63, No.2, 41 states in the US no longer teach cursive. Such long history should not disappear just like that.
1. How did writing first develop? What was its function? Who invented it? Writing first developed as tokens, which were merely clay pieces about the size of a quarter. The tokens represented an accounting system and were used to record items purchased or sold such as goats, sheep or even bottles of wine.
In his essay, “Should Everybody Write?”, Dennis Baron focuses on the expansion of information due to the advancement of technology and the vast amount of unchecked writing available on the internet. Baron also goes into depth about the origins of writing and the impact it has had on readers, authors, and researchers. After he presents the origins and progression of writing, Baron answers the question of, should everybody write? In early era’s, according to Baron, “… in the 17th century England, a period known for the flowering of English letters, where even kings and queens composed poetry and the brand-new Royal Society promoted science writing, literacy in London remained a mere 10% for men, a shocking 1% for women” (845).
All in all the idea of written language and art are just one idea that express in two different ways yet both ideas can have its own benefit. Visual art however can be more universal than written language. By having "Judgment of Hunefer before Osiris" in the art history text book is crucial because the roots of written language can help students or anyone to communicate and learn . The symbol in the art work has meanings and without reading the description one can defineity will get a hint of what is going on in the art

He remembers people coming into their house and crowding around their television to watch it with them for the first time. In today’s society, there is so much technology and we have gotten so used to it we do not think for ourselves. Mr. Francis explained to me that since there was no technology or cell phones, people actually communicated with each other and had real conversations. He told me that today’s generation relies on our phones and social media so much we forget how to communicate in the outside world, and we talk to people like we talk to them online.
Writing included many things, but some of the more important ones were a government building, a library, and a written language. A government building helps keep things in order and creates a set destination for commercial activities. A library was useful for having important things in a public setting so some problems that people ran into before writing was developed, could now be avoided. A written language was important in many activities and other things, so civilizations greatly advanced once created. All aspects of civilizations were a major part in shaping the world we live in
Though the world is becoming dependent on technology, are we becoming overly dependent? Cursive writing is an important writing skill that should be taught in schools, that is on the edge of becoming extinct. At least 41 states in the United States don’t require public schools to teach cursive anymore. This will greatly affect students because not everything is capable of being done on the computer. Even though technology is a great agricultural advancement cursive writing is still a beneficial tool to be taught and not overlooked.
One of the only reasons printing is taught over cursive is that computers and books use printing, and that we teach the young to print first. Without computers, printing would be considered to be dropped but now every thing is in print. Even then we still need cursive, without it we couldn't sign checks or documents. All we are doing is making the futures of our young more difficult. They would have to learn to sign their name any way so we should at least teach our how to do it before they need it.
For many, the ability to write in cursive shows that you excel in specific areas where others may not. For example, it may show that you are a good thinker, or that you are very well
Leaving messages for others to see dates back all the way to prehistoric times, although just cave drawings, this would evolve into the written form of language to communicate. Following these messages, ancient hieroglyphs and Sumerian writings would later be translated. All of this lead up to the Rise of literature. Very early examples of literature include the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh predating back to 2000 B.C. and the ancient Greek Writings of The Iliad by Homer. Without literature, history would be lost throughout time.
Writing is a vital part of life. Before the creation of written language human communication was limited to verbal, in-person conversations. Everything changed when writing allowed thoughts and ideas to travel farther and more efficient than ever before. Writing is a talent that we learn at an early age and only hone as we proceed through our academic careers. This being said, as with any talent every writer has strengths and weaknesses.
Writing can help you in life through ways you never thought possible. Once you find out the importance of writing it might make you think twice about learning good writing skills. Knowing how to write well is a crucial skill to have, and I hope that everyone can take the time to learn some. Writing, in my opinion can be very therapeutic.
Written works tells us about our past, present, and future. Literature painted the image of the past of our ancestors, how they lived and what they’ve done. Literature teaches us about ourselves, and the universe surrounding us in the present. Literature predicts the upcoming events and gives us wings to fly into the unknown future. These are the powers written words can give the writer and provide the
