In the nineteenth century there were plenty of factors and challenges the populist had to face. The Populist Party was also known as the People’s Party. Ignatius Donnelly played a major role in populism and was the one who made the party aware that the nation was in the verge of ruin. As the Populist tried to organize their party to become better and more aware there was many obstacles that faced citizens. There was that of the restoration of power and also the end of Reconstruction. Voting was all sorts of crazy the African American were either forced to vote Democratic or were kept from voting due to intimidation and fear. This then brought what we know as progressivism into action. The Progressive Era itself had its challenges and obstacles just like the Populist movement did. People who had jobs had either unsafe or very tiresome jobs. In this era there were plenty of immigration problems that also had to be faced. As a woman you also faced many problems whether it be a hard working mother or whether it was a stay at home mom there was always worries and stress. Woman who mostly stayed home had difficult challenges of sometimes facing divorce. Progressivism was entitled to make immigration and urban growth and things like that better. As a progressive they were very organized and wanted to make the world a better living environment. They started as a social movement and ended up in a political movement. I feel like the progressive’s were more productive than unproductive. They encouraged Americans to vote or even register to vote and they also tried to help the immigrants get rid of the fear they had within them. The progressive moment fought for people to be able to control the government by being
