Loud noises coming from around the auditorium and there were a lot of people chatting non-stop. As me and my friend walking through the halls to get inside the auditorium, there were posters of The Kong & Shu Project. I was shocked that they were from North Carolina and they got invited to come to Saint Paul, MN to come play for their fans. There were three sections where people can sit which in the left side has barely anyone sitting, in the middle section it was full, and in the right section there are half as many people in the middle section. I can see that most people that came to the concert are in their 20’s to 30’s, which there were no old people or teenagers. You can hear echo’s when people are talking in the auditorium. My expectations for this band was that it is going to be similar to another Hmong band, but it was different they have a mixture of American pop style and Hmong music together. I had a low expectation for this band because I usually when you hear Hmong songs the melody would sound the same and the lyrics would always be about love or hate. However, my expectation was wrong I didn’t expect most of their songs were going to sound Americanize. Especially, when the lyrics are written and sang in Hmong and only a few words in the lyrics are in English which it was my first time experience a band like this. In additional, most first generation Hmong band will sing a couple of English words, but it wasn’t as fluent as this band. I was surprised that there was no piano member in the band because most bands have a piano player in the there band and usually the piano are supposed to be the melody. I guess this makes them unique by not having a piano player. It was my first time hearing melodies that almost don’t sound like Hmong music, which it grabs my attention to support them in the
