1. Walt certainly demonstrates the term culture bound in the movie. He was an angry neighbor that if anyone’s ball went into his yard, it was long gone. To me it felt like Walt’s views were fenced in his own house and weren’t going to change. Surprisingly, by the end of the movie, he opened up to his Hmong neighbors next door. This transaction took a long time for him to break over the fence but he soon began to see other cultures as normal, everyday, people. He finally realized people of other cultures are real people with the same needs as he has. My favorite part was when he came to a point that he was protecting the Hmong family as if it was his own.
