The Holocaust’s Method of Mass Murder Imagine you have been working really hard and then promised a nice, hot shower with a meal at the end. However, in reality, you would be suffocated by a toxic gas. This is how it was for the Jews during the Holocaust. In 1942, Nazis led Jewish people into gas chambers. The jews were expecting to get a nice, hot shower and then would receive a meal and be assigned to work, which is obviously not what happened. According to the HolocaustResearchProject.org, The Nazis would make the Jews get undressed before entering the Mortuary (gas chambers). After they got undressed they would get deloused, which means to make sure that they do not have lice or bugs. They would finally get into the gas chamber to be killed, or as they thought, “getting cleaned”. The Nazis used Zyklon B to suffocate the Jews. According to www.ushmm.org, “Zyklon B was a highly poisonous insecticide also used to kill rats and insects.” The more people there were in the gas chambers, the quicker they suffocated. The Nazis would experiment the Zyklon B on 600 of the soviet prisoners of war before actually using it on the jews. Before the Nazis led the people into the gas chamber, they would separate the men from the women and children. They would send the ones off to die who looked “unfit” for work. According to ushmm.org “About three million Jews were gassed in extermination camps.” There were three other tactics. Those tactics were first, the invasion, deportation (not out of the country, to the extermination camps). And then finally, the gas chambers.
