The genus Streptococcus belongs to the family of Streptococcacaea. It is a type of prokaryote that lacks a nuclear membrane, organelles (except for the ribosomes in the cytoplasm), and has its genetic material arranged in single continuous strands that form loops or coils. They are classified as bacteria because they meet the conditions needed to be classified as one. They are associated with the class of Bacilli, which is a classification of cocci or rod shaped bacteria. Lactobaccillales are the order of gram positive bacteria that can produce lactic acid. It has also been discovered through Lancefield serotyping as group A; that is because it shows the Antigen A on its cell wall. A person may begin to feel chills and may have difficulty swallowing due to the pain of the swollen and tender neck glands. Just recently, this particular disease has been associated with the bacteria streptococcus pyogenes. Common symptoms that can be observed because of glomerulonephritis are bloody or foamy urine, as well as edema (swelling) in the abdomen, ankles, eyes, face, feet, or legs. The treatment for this particular disorder is dependent upon the asperity of the symptoms. Prescribed medicines, that can be used to treat this disorder, may include angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blocker, or other blood pressure drugs, as well as corticosteroids and immune system
