The organization that I have chosen is not my current employer the Department of Veteran Affairs, it is my past employer “The Home Depot.” The reason that I have chosen the Home Depot is the fact that it is a better fit for this paper. I was employed by the Home Depot for almost ten years. I started in February of 2004 shortly after leaving the United States Marine Corps. My starting pay was $12.50 an hour as a part time garden associate. When I left the Home Depot I was a full time employee making $18.79 hour and producing over a one million dollars in sales a year for the company as a contractor sales associate. To answer the question “How is my organization structured?” I have to explain how it is lead. The Home Depot Corporation is leadership structure is broken down into several different leadership levels. At the top is the board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer/Chairman of the Board, Executive Vice President. Then the Home Depot decentralizes their leadership structure based on geography areas of the county. They have Presidents for three divisions or regions they are Western/Northern/Southern Divisions. The Home Depot core values are based on their 8 values that make up the wheel. The value are to creating shareholder value, entrepreneurial spirit, take care of our people, respect for all people, doing the right thing, building strong relationships, giving back and excellent customer service (The Home Depot, 2016). At the Home Depot you are educated about the wheel at day one. When I first started at Home Depot the wheel only had four parts and as the years past more parts were add. As a company the Home Depot mostly sticks to its core values, however they are a fortune 500 company and they still need to make money so sometime they sometime forget to focus on their own
