Today I am honored to be standing here presenting the Conn Smythe trophy to my friend Duncan Keith. The Conn Smythe is awarded to the most valuable player during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I first heard of this tremendous defensemen back in the 2009-10 season where he helped prevail the Chicago Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup victory since 1961. It seems like Duncan never has a bad season and makes very few mistakes on the ice. The amount of time he puts into this game really shows his dedication and love for hockey.
To a lot of people, mostly boys’ cheerleading isn’t considered a sport. But did you know that cheerleading was originally meant for boys? I bet you didn’t, the first cheerleader’s name was Johnny Campbell; he decided that one day that he wanted to lead chants at the University of Minnesota’s football game. He then created a whole team that would help him lead the crowd at different University of Minnesota sports games. Then, on November 2, 1898, Johnny Campbell was recognized to be the world’s first official cheerleader.
Scout did not understand why people were so formal for an event like this. She looked around with a look of disgust. She almost threw up looking at all of the girls dressed with bright sequins and pastel colors. School dances did not seem pleasing to Scout. She had just recently learned what a school dance was, but she did not like it at all.
Michael, Do we purposely post or openly discuss things that are offensive or hurtful to you, openly criticize you, your family, or the Liberal, Progressive policies and the idiocy associated with those beliefs and policies? That flag, by the way, is a battle flag, even warriors have respect for one another after the battle is over. Nations pause to bury the dead and return the remains of the deceased. When Robert E. Lee left that day with his sidearm and his horse, even General Grant had the decency and respect to let the defeated South keep what dignity remained.
Colby Olson Mrs Geffre Speech Class April 11th, 2023 I love football, One of my favorite memories I will ever have is getting to play junior high football from my 6th through 8th grade years.. I was so mad that I had to wait until 6th grade to get to play real football. Some of my greatest memories I have made have been on a football field and I will never forget them. Sadly though, In this day and age, football gets a bad wrap, And I am here to show you why youth football shouldn’t be banned but rather be embraced.
All Hallow 's Eve, or as it’s known to everyone who 's not a priest in a B horror movie: Halloween, has never been a pre-holiday season staple in my Southern Baptist family. My parents have never embraced the spooky side of Halloween. While the other kids were cramming entire chocolate bars into their mouths amid heated debates over how many rolls of Smarties it takes to equal a fun size Twix bar for a trade, I was learning how candy corn can remind me of Jesus. Not only are my parents morally opposed to Halloween, but we also live off a highway in the country where the trees form a tunnel of foliage over the road almost cheering on drivers as they fly around corners like NASCAR racers. If I had ever dared to go out trick-or-treating on this Daytona speedway of a road, I would have
Sunday morning after the game, the #1 football player in the country wakes up, puts on his favorite sweatshirt and takes a walk downtown. He is quickly surrounded by his fans and fellow students, all telling him what a great game he had and asking for autographs while yelling his name. All of them are wearing his jersey. The All-American football player doesn’t think much of it, just humbly takes his praise, signs his name a few times, looks at all the jerseys and doesn’t make a dime. The school and sponsorships would make the money off his jerseys, his name, his fame...
This past week, Josh Norman, an immensely popular and talented football player, became a free agent and decided to sign with a new team. That new team just happened to be the Washington Redskins, who rewarded him with a guarantee of over 50 million dollars. What I don’t understand, however, is how a professional sports team is called the ‘Redskins’. Growing up, I have always been a huge fan of sports, both as a spectator and a participant. Starting in the 7th grade, we were required to wear a shirt and tie to school the day of a game.
Does your school celebrate Halloween? My school doesn’t and I’m kinda glad about that. There are many reasons why schools shouldn’t allow Halloween celebrations. Kids could steal other kids candy, students may eat too much candy and get sick, and some students might feel left out because they do not celebrate Halloween.
Do you want celebrate Halloween at school? I don’t want to celebrate Halloween. They are many reasons that I don’t like Halloween, but I will only include three. Although, some people love to do Halloween in school I’m not one of them. It would be unfair if parents don’t want their children to do Halloween, or they can’t afford costumes, other students may steal candy, and kids may get picked on based on their costumes.
You must know that no dress can fit all body shapes. When a lot of females want to buy homecoming dresses online, they often get attracted to a particular dress without taking note of their body shape. Then they find that the dress doesn’t look attractive on them. Determine your body shape before selecting a dress. You could have a vase, apple hourglass or pear body shape.
(Anne Martin, 2017) This dress is so popular: because it is versatile and can traverse the social etiquette of cocktail parties, office wear, school graduations, racing carnivals, date-nights, weddings and funerals. (Liz Gessner, 2012) Vogue wrote this following statement. “For any girl, any woman with little money, it’s marvellous to have the possibility of having one dress for the whole season, for the whole year, and be well dressed.”
Envision waking up every morning to put on the same outfit and walk out the door, stress free. People would not have to worry about what fits, or what is fashionable at the time. Schools would not have to worry about inappropriate clothing but at the same time, that clothing may be a way for a student to express himself. Many schools view uniforms as a solution to several problems, but many schools view uniforms as a lack of self expression. School uniforms should continue, even though children may not get to express themselves, because they prohibit violence, provide cheaper lifestyles, and promote better education.
You might be thinking about the schools that rich kids go to in movies and TV shows or you might be thinking about Catholic schools with small children all wearing the same colored school uniforms. This is probably what most people imagine. We associate uniforms with students of foreign countries and private schools. Thoughts of students dressing in school uniforms have led to stereotyping and a gloomy outlook on schools pushing for a uniform policy. We live in a society that says you must express yourself and be an individual at all cost, but some fear that uniforms display us as robots who lack the ability to express ourselves, however, this is far from the truth.
Confidence is the key to every fashionable person. When you are not confident in what you wear or what you choose to wear, the whole outfit will simply be ordinary. As John Galliano famously said, “Style is wearing an evening dress to McDonald’s, wearing heels to play football. It is personality, confidence and seduction.” (Lindig, 2014)
