While the true origins of modern humans or homo sapiens is shrouded in mystery, there are some things that we do know, there are some things we can speculate about and there are some things that are still just guesses. It is believed that the earlies homo sapiens originated around 200,000 years ago, but it has not been proved exactly when they appeared. It is also believed that early humans were a nomadic people that had to live on the move to follow resources and food. They had to make use of the environment around them, being hunters and gatherers is the only way they had to survive. With the growth of the farming society and the advances in tools and weaponry, the earlier humans began to flourish and grow. They were able to develop more advance societies, expand to more distant lands and turn into what society is today. The Persian army had many encounters at different places and people but had particular problems with the small city states of Greese. Greese was broken up into city states that were self-reliant and had there own set of rules and leader, the most well known of them was Athens and Sparta. The Greeks were known for their advances in technology, art, architecture, mathematics and philosophy. The Greeks had their gods and goddesses to explain the creation of the universe and mankind what we call greek mythology. Even though the city states were there own entities both Sparta and Athens were strong military powers of their days, but Athens boasted the strongest navy of the time. Greek society was mainly male dominated, the classes showed who had the most money and land holdings, with the higher class having the most desirable land with the most protection. Women were treated as second class citizens with very little power, except in Sparta where the were required to physically train and allowed to drink wine.
