In both Honest Abe by Barbara Radner and Backwoods Boy by Russell Freedman, they talk about Abraham Lincoln’s life. Well, both Abe’s personality is different! “How can they be different or similar?” I bet you are wondering. Well, I am here to answer those questions. Let’s dive right in. Let’s start off with compare. In Honest Abe It is made extremely obvious Abraham did what was right every chance he got. This is shown when Radner states in the article “After closing the store, though it was late, he could not go home to supper or to bed till he had restored that sixpence to its proper owner. She lived more than two miles away, but that did not matter to Abe Lincoln. He walked all the way there—and back.” Something similar is shown in Freedman's Backwoods Boy when Abe did the following; “Another time he caught a fish and gave it to a passing soldier.” (413). In Honest Abe Radner stated; “Abe Lincoln could not endure the thought of cheating anyone, even though it had been done unintentionally. He took great care of the money at the store. But some days there were mistakes. He always made sure to correct them.” This shows, once again, Abe could never do anything wrong, and if he did something wrong, he would correct it at once. Now let’s look at Freedmen’s Backwoods Boy. On page 415, he states; “He stayed with his family through their first prairie winter, but he was getting restless.” This shows that while Abe is a jolly, happy person, he can get annoyed by his family.
