“How would your life be different if you approached all relationships with authenticity and honesty? Let today be the day that you dedicate yourself to building relationships on the solid foundation or truth and authenticity.” In William, Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, there are many ups and downs with relationships. Romeo and Juliet, a 17 and 13 year old, are lovers at first sight and they are willing to die, just to be together, and that’s a healthy relationship, but consequences soon begin to get rough after Juliet secretly gets married to Romeo. Good communication and honesty are the most important qualities in a strong, healthy relationship, while a lack of understanding and compassion can be the main cause of problems. When a child can’t talk to their parents and has to lie to them, it’s a very unhealthy relationship. You should always be honest about everything. Juliet keeps things from her parents instead of being honest and lies. Before Juliet does to her mother, Lady Capulet says “Well, think of marriage now...Thus then in brief: The valiant Paris seeks you for his love” (Shakespeare, 1,3,71-76). Then later that day Nurse says to Juliet “Then hie you hence to Friar Lawrence’s cell… But you shall bear the burden soon at night. Go. I’ll to dinner. Hie you to the cell” (Shakespeare, 2,,5,67-76). This shows me that Lady Capulet (Juliets Mother) does not know that Juliet is marrying Romeo behind her back, and Nurse and Friar Lawrence are helping them set it all up and Friar is marrying them secretly. Its sad when a child has to lie to her own parents, and even get help by other Adults around the household who should be responsible enough to tell her how much it may affect her relationship with her parents. That's an example of how a relationship may fail because of being dishonest. Every relationship should always have honesty and …show more content…

A father who finds a guy that he likes and who is older than his own daughter to marry, isn't good because a father shouldn't arrange a marriage for his daughter to a guy that she doesn't really know and she does not love. That's a lack of understanding between a father and daughter. Juliet and Capulet, her father, have a hard time understanding each other… she has an arranged marriage set up by him. She does not know the guy, who goes by the name, Paris. Once Juliet says that she doesn’t want to marry Paris, her father blows up and says “Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get thee to church o’ Thursday, or never after look me in the face… But now I see this one is one too much and that we have a curse in having her. Out on her, hiding!” (Shakespeare, 3,5,160-168). “Tush, I will stir about, and all things shall be well, I warrant thee, wife… My heart is wondrous light since this same wayward girl is so reclaimed” (Shakespeare, 4,2,42-50). That shows the relationship between Juliet and her father, Capulet, is going down hill because he made an arranged marriage for her to marry Paris, and she does not love him nor does she know him good enough to marry him. She's already married to Romeo, secretly and she's in love with him. But Capulet doesn't know until it shoots out of her mouth. That is a non healthy relationship example to not have, you should always be willing to listen to every word
