The case study about Hooters Cassie Smith was on the verge of being fired from Hooters because of her weight. Yes, I think the company has the right to maintain an appearance as part of the employment but they should have a contract for the employees to sign when they are hired. The contract should state that you have to be a certain weight and size and if they are not a certain size and weight then they should have a six month grace period to get in shape then after that then they should be terminated. Without the contract, they should not be able to fire employees after they have hired them. That is discrimination against the employees and can lead to a lawsuit. They are trying to have the same image as the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes but the people in these …show more content…

They should not make their employees feel bad about their weight because they do not know what people are going through in their personal lives. That is discrimination unless they have a contract. When they told Cassie that she was overweight instead of saying in a rude way that they did; they could have told her that they needed her to lose a few pounds and be healthier. The way they went about it was disrespectful and rude and could have made her feel bad about herself. She could have gone into depression and possible tried to kill herself or anything.
Yes, this issue would determine if I would visit Hooters in the future because I have had an problem with my weight before. When people tell you that you are fat or overweight that makes you feel a certain type of way about yourself. This should make people look at Hooters differently. They should take their employees seriously because to me they hire them not telling them they have certain requirements. By them just telling her that she will be terminated because of her weight was rude and more than likely hurt her
