This was where I first developed my multitasking skills to oversee and coordinate four clinical research studies. My strong communication and interpersonal skills enabled me to meet crucial deadlines and work efficiently with physicians, nurses, pharmaceutical sponsors, and study monitors. I strive not only to be a great employee and team player but also to serve and positively impact my community, especially the medically underserved. For more than five years, I have volunteered over 1,000 hours, and most recently, I serve through the Lestonnac Free Clinic and Access OC organization as a Spanish interpreter. As a bilingual Spanish-speaking nurse, I hope to help my community by breaking down the language barrier between patients and the healthcare team in order to ensure the accurate continuity of care.

Since 2008 I've owned a consulting company and since 2010 I was an owner of staffing agency. I always feel a passion to help people and have years of expertise how to manage the consulting company and staffing agency. In 2011 I understood that I want to build a Home Care Agency, but I wouldn't have been able to build it without training on field. That's why in 2011 I got a Home Health Aide Certificate and started working in health care industry. Therefore, I know what is exactly personal care and home health aide about and how to promote healthy and independent living for those in need.
My fourth day at Agape hospice I was the administrative of the day. When I was asked to be the administrative of the day I was nervous again. Through serving others, I have come to realize that every person, regardless of one’s cultural background, has something to offer to the community. As an immigrant, I was quite hesitant about accepting new challenges. The fear of others’ judgment regarding my performance hindered my progress. However, through serving others in various capacities, I was able to interact and help people in my community, who themselves helped me overcome my fears. Whether helping patients at St. John Providence or assisting refugees at the American Red Cross, I was amazed as to how much my presence made a difference, especially for those who needed me to interpret for them.

Hospice and palliative care can be easily intertwined; they are both concerned with promoting comfort and relieving patient pain. Hospice and palliative care, however, are different in some aspects. Patients who receive hospice care are nearing the end of their lives and there is no effort to cure their disease; the goal is to provide pain relief, a sense of belonging from family and friends if desired, support through the dying stages, and to assure that the person is able to die with dignity. Palliative care is also focused on reducing discomfort; however, the patient receiving care can be at any stage in their disease. Additionally, palliative care can also be administered during a time when a patient is receiving treatment to cure their illness.
Making a difference I started my health care career as a nursing assistant at the young age of 16 years-old perusing the dream of one day becoming a nurse. At that time, I really had no idea what I was getting myself into and what it meant to be in the health care. I have been able to touch and impact so many different people’s lives throughout the last 6 years from patients and residents to their family members. Sometimes not even realizing that I was changing someone’s life. Although I’ve helped hundreds of people there is one person that will I will always remember.
I am driven and determined to have a career in nursing by becoming a student at NYU College of Nursing. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from a deep desire to help people. Nurses have the ability to see people at their worst, while helping them become their best. This is the most rewarding experience and an experience that I want to obtain. Being a trilingual nursing student, I would love to use the skills I acquired in nursing to help the immigration population of NYC and translate for patients with language
