For me being a Hispanic young woman my age, gender, or social class rank are always some of the obstacles that I have had growing up. That’s why education is very important to me, the financial assistance that Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship offers will give me the benefit to advance further in my education to be able to contribute to my country and make it better than it was yesterday. I desire to be able to help my love once and my community. Since l can remember education was always something that amazes me to this day. In the middle of fourth grade my grandma passed away, my parents had to pay all the bills and once again I felt alone, till I started reaching out to others for help and guidance. My grades got better and I became more positive, but we still had economy issues do to the bills my grandma left behind. My dad had always told us that our will is our education. When my sister graduated, she had neither money nor scholarships to pay for college so my dad had to give her the money for everything. The bills started to get bigger and bigger but he still encouraged us to continue our education. My dad had to use the money he had saved for my college expenses. My dad is still paying bills and still sends money to his family in Mexico until this day. I don’t have any money to start college, but I won’t make that an excuse to hold my education back. I will fight every day, hour, minute, and second till I have what I need to extend my education at Lamar University. I want to make a huge impact in my country.
