My research aims to focus on how affected are the children depending on if mother is put in prison or unstable father. My research is trying to understand the children’s behavior after knowing that one of theirs parents are being incarcerated. It is about observing how a child will develop knowing if the father was incarcerated or the mother. Many children are usually more attached to one parent than the other. If that parent that they love the most happens to be incarcerated how will the child respond. Most children’s first role models are their parents, they look up to them because they are the ones they see proving for their family. Having a percentage of who is more affected in family holds can help prevent other parents from doing stuff they should not be doing so their children will be influence to do the same things. After finding the results, we can unite children who are going through the same situation to feel connected with others and share their emotions. Some of the students start to rebel just because the parent they looked up to the most was the one put in prison. According to, the article, "Behind Bars”, “more than five million U.S. children have had a parent in prison”( Murphey and Mae 2015 ). If we do a study on the children’s behaviors and observe their behavior, not only we get to find what parent is the most influential in the child’s life but what are the type families that usually go through this? What causes the parents to behave in such a way? It involves the children who are the next generation and what they can provide for society. As everyone grows older, babies are being born and as a society we teach them what is right and wrong, not only to benefit them in the long run but to benefit the world as well. They will once become parents if they wish to and then influence their children and majority of the time, one either learns from their own parents what to do or not to do. In order to be able to answer this problem, I will look into each individual of them family and compare them with other similar families. My research question is, which parent of the children being in prison affect the children the most? As if the father was in prison, does that weaken the family as whole or how do the children take it and act upon it. Vice versa, if the mother was put in prison instead.. Along with other questions such as, What happens to the children when their parent are put in prison? What happens to the spouse ? What actions are being created?
