African-Americans were slaves, that were brought to the U.S to work for a master. The slaves were not paid, but they were treated terrible. The master did not pay they, however they weren't treated good. Slave life, was a big deal in the 1800's because husband and wife could be sold to a different owner. Families that were sold couldn't keep their family together so, it made it harder for them see them again. Marriage was also allowed, but not now because at that time they never celebrated with an honor feeling. Another reason how people tried keeping their family together was because of the culture and religion. Many people who had legal rights began to be enslaved. Another reason why they enslaved people was because they were depicted to the bible. Slave owners always found a way to keep them busy, which means they didn't get any free time for them to relax or calm down a bit. They should of invent new vehicle or machines for slaves could finish their work faster, and it would help them from getting less tired. Inventor could try to invent a new technology for it could be a new way to have. They would break tools and pretend to understand the work.
