During the reign of the New Kingdom pharaoh Amenhotep IV, also called Akhenaten, the art of ancient Egypt underwent a considerable change. This is unsurprising given the fact that the shift throughout Egypt in culture and religion was so immense. So, logically, it follows that the stylistic choices in art during that time period would alter significantly. In order to fully understand the extent to which the artists active during the reign of Akhenaten revolutionized art, it is very important to compare the work of that time period with some of the art created during other prevalent eras in ancient Egypt.

Throughout history, art has existed. Art has existed throughout the regions and time, as such the marble statue of a Kouros and the palette of Narmer are good examples of art. Kouros in Greek means boy, the statue is made of marble and is nude (no clothes). Palette of Narmer is a palette that tells the story of the Egyptian king Narmer who rejoined Upper Egypt and lower Egypt to be together again.
One way paintings demonstrate this is the difference between the Mona Lisa and Madonna Enthroned Between Two Angels. The older painting, Madonna Enthroned Between Two Angles, is unrealistic and has rather depressing dark colors. While the Renaissance painting, the Mona Lisa, is not only much more realistic, but also a lot more cheerful, brighter feel, and became a true masterpiece (Doc A). In the paintings, the fact the Renaissance painting is brighter, more realistic and a famous masterpiece, shows that the Renaissance changed the art style into a unique, amazing representation that changed the entire future of art. The paintings from the Renaissance showed that people saw each other differently than before( Doc A).
In the Renaissance, the world changed forever. New thinking about humans being the most significant rather than religious figures would have been unheard of in the Middle Ages, but now in this new period, the world has begun to accept this. These new ideas led to them being present in art, leading to a new beginning for art. In “The Last Days of the Renaissance & The March to Modernity” by Theodore Rabb, he discovers that what occurred in the Renaissance changed art permanently. He said, “The new artistic styles would echo the broader movements and interests of the new age ....
Art has been around for centuries, expressed in various ways through different mediums; painting, drawing, photography, music, and so many more. Each having smaller categories within them. One can create a portrait with different types of paint, chalk, pens and pencils, the lens of a camera. A musician can convey a feeling within lyrics, or notes of a song. Separate forms of art, yet if you look closely enough, you can see similarities as well.
The transformation of art from the middle ages to the Renaissance is jarring. The art
From the fifteenth century to the seventeenth centuries society experienced a shift from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. During this time Europe underwent many significant changes that were often expressed through the historical art. Passionate and experienced artists used their skills to create masterpieces that would highlighted these changes and led to the success of their careers. During this shift Medieval point of views began to fade away and a new Era full of new perspectives began to form. The Renaissance was known by many as the rebirth of the humanist culture.
From sculptures and paintings, to various architectures, art can come in many forms. An artist has a reason behind what they chose to incorporate in their art. Works of art can illustrate various cultures, politics, economics, religion, and ideologies of specific stylistic periods. Art can be used as propaganda, as well a way to record historical events. The topic I chose was the Amphora, from the Philbrook Museum of Art, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
1. Discuss Subject matter within the impressionist era. What made the artist choose their subject matter and how did that differ from previous era’s within art? The subject matter within the impressionist era was Nature and the artist modern surroundings.
Art plays an important role of art development in history. The unique and dramatic working process created the wonder to all posterity. Artwork are always reflected the development of the society. It represented the cultural Significance and highlight the wealth of the historical value. A good artworks shows the different development from each era and the unique historical achievement.
How has the Classical tradition (the art of Greece and Rome) continued to affect art through the 1700s? "The Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical styles dominated the art of Western Europe between 1600 and 1800. Baroque artists like Caravaggio and Peter Paul Rubens sought to reinvigorate Catholic art with art and architecture that emphasized drama and movement. Rococo artists like Fragonard celebrated the leisure activities of the upper class, as the center of style and culture moved to Paris from Rome. Neoclassical art and architecture looked back to the classical era for inspiration, producing Greek-style columned buildings such as the US Capitol Building" ("Baroque and Rococo", n.d.).
The definition of art took a significant change in the late 16th century when it started being seen as a product of human activity as opposed to nature. Though art has been associated with craft for a long time, by the 17th century, the common worlds of art and technical ability started to diminish and art was more associated with creativity. More recently, art is associated with the ability to adopt a creative or flexible approach. Thus in general, art followed the chronological order as something associated with skill, and then specialized into a particular branch of skill that is associated with creativity. The word art had occasionally used as a graphic abbreviation for the word article.
After a period, they become a masterpiece of art. The process of making and appreciating produces art often taking centuries. To undertake the above history, art represents the human life. From Dewey’s opinion, the art works are made based on the artists living environment and what he or she saw. When modern people walk into the museum, they know how ancient people live in history.
This research was carried out not to only show awareness toward the society but also why people should take art seriously. Often times, we can see lots of people debating whether art is important or not. This happened because the lack of exposure and knowledge that has been taught to them. Art can help to shape the society and affect the society to broaden their view of perspective in life by referring on the artworks because each work of art can give different meanings to life.
