Aaron Copland broke musical compositions into different categories. Modern compositions changed from the romantic era and classical era. Modern music took on a more artistic presence. There were different styles of music, i.e. impressionism, symbolism, expressionism, experimentation, and consonance & dissonance. During this period music can be confusing.
After the first phrase ended, the music picks up into a more joyful tempo. The choir also begins to sing. During the third phrase the music becomes even faster and full of joyfulness. During the Benedictus phrase, Beethoven included a violin solo accompanied by the orchestra. I was pleasantly surprised by this because I love the violin.
There are many differences and similarities between the fourth movement of Beethven’s Fifth symphony and the fourth movement of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, whether it is the orchestrastion of the pieces, the dynamics, form and period. Ludwig van Beethoven is one of the most well known Classical composers in music history, born into a family of musicians and was seen by his father as a profitable prodigy and had several of his piano compositions published by the age of twelve. He was the first successful freelance composer and changed the way music was composed and performed as he composed pieces that defied the standard ways of composing during the Classical era by using an expanded form structure, larger orchestra, dramatic themes and replaced minuet and trio with scherzo and trio making the third movements of his symphonies faster than traditionally performed. He also treated instruments as individuals instead of grouping them together such as the bass instruments which originally formed the Basso continuo. Beethoven experimented with the ways an instrument could be played , creating new sounds, and would have large pitch ranges between instruments which aided in the expressiveness and drama of his pieces.
Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous composer of the eighteenth-century classical music and the nineteenth-century romanticism style of music. Beethoven is still remembered for his spectacular pieces in modern times. Beethoven’s music led others to take the art of music as a serious topic. His symphonies and sonatas were revolutionary to the music world, because of this, many people today are not aware of his deafness. His deafness eventually caused him to make sacrifices in his music career.
Movement two takes on a very slow tempo. Movements three and four then pick the pace right back up and finishes off allegro. Overall, the main differences can be found throughout the way the movements are paced out in the three works, mainly focusing on Beethoven’s symphony no.5 and Haydn’s Symphony No.94, and also how the themes and variation are played into it as
“The second movement arrives at a blazing speed, shattering the serenity of the first. The form of this second section of the work is most commonly described as a Scherzo and Trio, a form that Beethoven employed often.” As observed in figure 4, Beethoven writes a sequence of syncopations that defines the melodic mood of this movement, which also is related to the dynamics marks. “The basic elements of a Scherzo and Trio are historically part of a Minuet and Trio, a form that originated to accompany dances.” This second movement is definitely a compositional innovation since it is short and demanding to play with fast scale passages and huge jumps on both
Also, the tempo of the 4th movement truly helps me savor all the complexity and can listen to every single note of the piece. After the 4th movement is the Ode to Joy, the movement starts with the instruments, and then the chorus comes in. The Schiller's poem “Ode to Joy” inspired Beethoven to write this astonishing piece of music for people to listen. In fact, I noticed that many times orchestras play Beethoven much slower than he intended; however, it can help the audience easily to hear all the symphony. As a matter of fact, I’m not a fan of classical music, but for the pieces, the melody is peaceful and tender, overwhelming.

Beethoven’s music, which is generally split into three periods, reflects the gradual decline in his hearing. The Early Period lasts from Beethoven’s childhood to around 1803, when he had both the First and Second Symphonies under his belt in addition to the accomplishments described above. During this period, he could mostly hear and his music was characterized by higher notes. The Middle Period starts right around the time Beethoven’s decline in hearing was becoming severe and ends just before the 1820s when he was presumed to be totally deaf. This period is characterized by lower notes, with the number of high notes he used dropping significantly.
Beethoven 's 9th Symphony "Ode to Joy" Movement IV belongs to the Classical period of music. The visual aspect plays a major part in the video and draws the viewer in. The set-up of the instruments consists of ; cellos, double bass, violins, violas,contrabassoon,piccolos,flutes,clarinets,horns,trumpets,trombones,timpani,bass drum,triangle,cymbals. The Symphony also features a choir. The emotion and body language of the conductor sets the mood for the scene.

The Classical era is more innovative in comparison with the baroque era. Baroque music is characterized by polyphonic texture, improvisation of instrumentalists throughout pieces, as well as complexities in rhythm, mood, and melody.
