Introduction Ancient Greece was one of Europe's most important cultures. The classical period had a profound impact on Western civilization in the fifth and sixth century BC. Classical Greece influenced modern Western society and culture “Classical Greece also had a powerful influence on the Roman Empire and greatly influenced the foundations of Western civilization. Much of modern Western politics, artistic and scientific thought, literature, and philosophy derives from this period of Greek history." (Boundless,.n.d. Para.1). The majority of historians concur that Greek culture, which had a significant impact on the Roman Empire, is responsible for the fundamental culture of Western civilization. With the rise of the Renaissance in Western Europe, the ancient Greek civilization had a significant impact on modern politics, educational systems, philosophy, science, art, and architecture. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, various neoclassical revivals in Europe and the Americas brought this civilization back to life. and the writings of Homer, Virgil, and Herodotus, as well as the philosophy of Socrates, Plato, and others, are still revered, studied, and examined today, and few students of philosophy or literature would downplay the importance of the ancients' legacy to their respective fields.
