Frederick Douglass, have you heard of him? Douglass made an impact during his time and his actions still continue to follow till todays times. Douglass played an important role in setting people free and making way for women and African Americans to gain their rights. Although he, himself, didn't give them their rights, he did do what was needed in order for them to get voted to have their rights, which is almost equally as important. Being born straight into slavery, he knew what it was like to work unbearable hours day to day. This motivated him to help at least 400 slaves by freeing them after working in the underground railroad for so long. As Douglass got older, he wanted to help people and that's where his journey began. As a young kid, Douglass worked on the underground railroad. It was believed that women weren't capable of independently thinking about a lot of things that the men did. Douglass wanted to do everything in his will to prove that this was false. So he began to pave the way for women and give them a helping hand towards their civil rights, voting rights, and social rights. Douglass got involved with many political parties, which wasn't easy due to him being African American. Nobody wanted him to get what he wanted, it was a struggle for Douglass. Many political parties and votes later, Douglass was able to persuade more and more people as time went on. Constantly getting into conflict in order to give these women their rights.
