Galileo Galilei It can be argued that there is another innovator or scientist during the Scientific Revolution that was the most revolutionary and impactful, however, Galileo was the most revolutionary and impactful mathematician and astronomer during the Scientific Revolution. This is true because Galileo completely changed the way that humans thought about and saw the world around them by discovering sunspots, the phases of Mars and Venus, the 4 moons that orbited Jupiter, and the principle of inertia. Galileo also proved the legitimacy of the Copernican system of Heliocentrism, which not only had effects in the field of science, but also in other fields, such as trading and how traders navigated the oceans. Therefore, Galileo truly changed …show more content…

Galileo saw sunspots, the valleys, craters, and mountains of the moon, the 4 moons of Jupiter, and finally, the phases of Mars and Venus. Galileo also had many stimulating thoughts throughout his lifetime. Galileo believed that the 10 spheres surrounded the Sun, and not the Earth, and Galileo’s discovery of the phases of Mars and Venus had led Galileo to believe in this Copernican school of thought (of Heliocentrism), because the only way that Mars and Venus could have phases, is if they orbited around the Sun. Another phenomenon that Galileo thought of was the principle of inertia, and in this, Galileo had hypothesized that if uniform motion was applied to an object, it would move at an accelerated rather than a uniform force. Throughout Galileo’s lifetime, he said many things, and made many arguments. Galileo supported the Heliocentric theory, and he was told to not publicly say that he supported the Heliocentrism by the Church, however, Galileo could not remain quiet, and publicly advocated for Heliocentrism. It is even widely believed that Galileo said, “And yet it moves", and in this quote, it is believed that Galileo was referring to the Earth, saying that the Earth was not in a state of fixation, rather, it revolves around the Sun. Galileo had also once said, “The Bible shows the way to go to heaven, not the way the heavens go”, meaning …show more content…

He truly changed the way that humans saw the Earth and the universe. Galileo transformed the way that merchants and armies navigated the oceans, and how astronomers saw the heavens. Galileo single-handedly disproved the Catholic Church, one of the most influential institutions during the time of the Scientific Church. Galileo discovered the 4 moons of Jupiter, the phases of Mars and Venus, sunspots, and valleys, mountains, and craters on the moon, revelations that could not be envisioned by the average individual. Therefore, it is clear that Galileo was not an ordinary man, rather, he was a visionary and a man of superior intellectual capacity. Galileo has changed the world and the way individuals see the world for the foreseeable future, and therefore, Galileo is truly the most revolutionary figure in
