“You can’t do it unless you can imagine it.” This quote is said by George Lucas and this is just one of the reasons how he impacted society. Well that’s the question: How did Filmmaker and Director, George Lucas impact society? Well one reason was because he did imagine things and therefore he was a creator of great things. My three topics on how he impacted society are: what his life was like before fame, where he would be today without Star Wars, and what influenced him to become a filmmaker.
Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, I wanted to tell you what his life was like before fame. Well, George Lucas was born in May of 1944 in California and had a relatively good life growing up. He was inspired by small films to become a filmmaker. After, he went to the University of Southern California. One reason he was influenced to become a filmmaker was because, it said in the text, "His seat belt snapped and he was flung from the car which, a split second later, collided with such force that it moved the tree two feet, roots and all." ("George Lucas - Biography"). This explains how George wanted to be a race car driver, but after the crash, he changed his decision. Another reason he became a filmmaker was because it said, "He spent his childhood fascinated with comic books, especially 'Buck Rogers' and 'Flash Gordon.' " ("George Lucas - Biography"). This shows how he was inspired to write certain movies because of books he read as a child.
