Harriet Tubman Harriet tubman was a african american slave born in Dorchester County, MD and sadly died in March 10, 1913, Auburn, NY but not only was she african american she was a hero not the kind that wore capes and could carry 3 hundred tons but a hero to all that knew her she did very many great things but some of the things she did was, In 1849 she fled slavery, leaving her husband and family behind in order to escape, Tubman also served as a scout, spy and nurse during the Civil War. but the most inmportant thing she did was she was the conductor of the (underground rilroad) witch slaves used to escape into freedom.
