Teniola Akande 2/9/24 Harriet Tubman is a name that is known by many for the amazing feats that she accomplished in her lifetime. Harriet was vividly remembered for her contributions to the abolition movement, and many other accomplishments that truly showed her persistence and kindness. The abolitionist movement lasted for many years, having its ups and downs. The main goal was to free African Americans from slavery, and to experience freedom and tranquility. Harriet Tubman played a large role in this movement, as she always put the welfare of slaves above hers, and even in old age, continued to care for slaves till she was too weak to stand. Though not a real railroad, it was her way of getting herself, her family, and slaves she did not know out of captivity and bondage. Harriet continued to help slaves get financially stable after her time as the underground railroad conductor. She met up with many other abolitionists, and worked with them to petition for freedom. She served in the army as a spy, and was recognized by many abolitionists for her outstanding work. She gave slaves a home to go to, despite her financial impasse, and worsening health. Harriet was a beacon of ingenuity and hope for all the slaves that passed her. Though having a tough childhood, Harriet looked out for slaves when they started to believe freedom was impossible. Harriet Tubman took many slaves on her trips out of slavery, and made sure each one made it safely, even if they lost hope. Harriet on her first trip took family members, but soon began taking brave volunteers to go to freedom. There would be times on these trips where the slaves would become wayward due to horrible conditions on the path to freedom.
