In February 1908 Henry Ford added a assembly line to his factory. The first car of the production line was in March 1908 (Changes the world). The assembly line changed not just this country but the whole world for the better.

Henry called it the quadcycle in the beginning. When he drove down the street for the first time everyone was amazed and even Henry was amazed it even worked. Henry was not the first car maker, but he made it better. The assembly line helped get the prices down. Henry was over paying for the parts so he started maked his own with the assembly and it helped make it cheaper and better (McCarthy 41). Henry was doing well, but he had a huge set back. One he had a huge riot in his factory. It took 2 hours for the police to get it under control. It was during winter and it was below freezing. He got back on his feet a couple months later because his cars started selling more and more. Henry had to have more space so he moved to a bigger facility. He moved to Highland Parks in January 1, 1970. He got more workers too. Edsel helped with building better engines for Ford and that's what helped Ford to get more money. But it took the assembly line 5 years to get just right. They did have some bad problems about the assembly line. The workers got tired and a bored of their job. They got bored because it became a chore and not a job. It may have paid well but they did the same thing over and over again. Also Ford wasn't very nice to his employees (McCarthy 107). In 1916 Ford found over severed fingers in his factory. All the workers were stressed and tired every day and it got worse (McCarthy 8). Ford was able to make one million cars a year. The man hours to build a model T ford was twelve and a half hours and with the assembly line it was ninety three minutes (McCarthy 113). 1916 the car was 360 dollars. 360 dollars in 2015 is 9000 dollars today (google.com). The workers were still thankful or their paycheck. Sadly Ford died and Edsel took over and made better changes to the already great company (McCarthy 107).
