Henry Ford revolutionized the car industry in the 1920’s by introducing the concept of mass production to manufacture cars making them more affordable. The “Model T” prototype spawned an era in which freedom and independence were articulated through the ownership of the “Model T”. By todays standard, it had a simple design and function, it neither braked or accelerated quickly and didn’t handle very well. It could not nearly compare to even the most simplistic of cars today. Ford stated, “There is no need for further development in motorcars, for I have perfected the modern automobile.” Little did he know, the “Model T” was a pioneer of a machine, one that would undergo decades of innovation and revision including in the area of performance.
