The Renaissance was a time of rebirth in Europe from the 1300s to the 1500s. Humanism helped spur the interest in learning(Frey 320). Furthermore, the decline of feudalism would become the start of monarch powers throughout Europe(Guisepi). One of the power houses in Europe was England, which was led by the Tudor family, the Tudors brought fame, victory and fortune to England, until Henry VIII became king and ruined it all. King Henry stepped away from the church, started his own, had zero allies and loved six woman, he was not a healthy being and ruined England because of that. Obsession, greed and selfishness led Henry to ruin England during his rein. King Henry was born on June 28, 1491(biography.com editors). He was born into a royal …show more content…
This was normal back then because he felt it was right to take care of arthur's widow. Not many people minded this happening because it was a brother's duty to take care of you brothers widow in the bible.. Henry wanted to get annulled(divorced) from Catherine after 17 years of marriage(Trueman). This was not allowed in the Roman Catholic Church because once people married, people were married for life. Henry did not agree and took away England's primary religion, being a Roman catholic. Henry sent a very polite message to the Pope asking if the divorce was ok to do, but the Pope denied(biography.com editors). This was very selfish because he wanted to evade the rules of the church for his own benefit. King Henry had trusted Thomas Wolsey from 1514-1529, but beheaded him because he could not convince the pope to let Henry get divorced(Trueman). This was awful; he killed a man because he was not persuasive enough to convince the Pope to let them get divorced. Unfortunately, Henry was so insulted by the Pope not allowing the divorce he also separated from the church to create his own(biography.com editors). As previously stated, In 1509 Henry married Arthur's widow, Catherine of Aragon(biography.com editors). Nick Ford states on page 48, “ Not only was Catherine growing to old to have children, but was becoming more physically unattractive to Henry. He said he could not love a woman for her mind alone.” He was going to divorce her because he could not love a girl for her mind. Now that is obession for other woman. Henry cheated on Catherine with Elizabeth Blount, they had a son and named him Henry Fitzroy(Ford 50). Henry made Henry Fitzroy duke of Somerset and Richmond, but Henry Fitzroy died two months later(biography.com editors). This shows how Henry was so determined to have a male heir as Henry Fitzroy was barely a week old and named him Duke, it was not normal for a person who couldn't even speak to be Duke if something. Then In 1526 he fell in love with Anne Boleyn and by 1533 they were secretly married, however, in 1536 he found out that she had sexual relations with other men and had her executed(Ford 50). He killed a woman because she liked other men and he just moved on to his next wife, that shows his obsession with woman, greed for a wife and power and selfishness about how it did not go his way so he killed her. In 1537 Henry married Jane Seymour then in the Fall of 1537 Jane gave birth to a baby boy, they named him Edward VI(Ford 59). Henry had finally found a son, but did that stop him from slaying women left
