Julius Caesar was born into an aristocratic roman family on the twelfth of July, 100 BCE. At the time greco roman society was fading and on the verge of revolution and Caesar himself was ready to play a part. He became a roman political and played a very important role in events that killed the Roman Republic and transform into the Roman Empire . Unfortunately he was arrogant, manipulative and made many illegal choices. Although he had strong beliefs and was a cunning general, it’s a predominate fact that he had to die.

Even though he wouldn’t be safe entering Italy alone, Caesar knew that crossing the rubicon with his troops would declare them a public enemy, and yet he still went ahead with starting a civil war. Any provincial governors bringing their armies into Italy, unless it was for triumph or invitation, was undoubtedly one of the most illegal things you could do and was declared an act of war. Years later, Caesar threatened this principle. Because Caesar won the civil war, chased his opponents out of Rome and killed Pompey in Egypt, he had wiped out his competition. So on returning to Rome in 44 BCE, he made himself dictator for life. Caesar made acts on reforming the calendar, ordering greco roman culture, opening up immigration and distributed lands to the poor. These actions made him very popular with the lower and middle class. So popular in fact that temples, busts coins, and statues were made dedicated to him that can still be seen today.
