Julius Caesar Nicholas Inks There have been many influential and powerful leaders in the history of the world, and they have done a lot of things for this world. Julius Caesar was one of those people, and he was a dictator of Rome. For example, Julius Caesar conquered an empire, and he almost became the king of Rome. Later, he was assassinated, just like Commodus and Caligula. Julius Caesar was powerful because during his leadership of Rome, he made powerful alliances, took down all of Gaul, and was finally assassinated after a very long rule. First, Julius Caesar mainly conquered an empire because he made a strong alliance called a Triumvirate, to expand his power. A Triumvirate is a government run by three people, and those people rotate the main power. In the ancient world, if a father gave their daughter to someone in marriage, they would not want to attack you because they are married to your daughter, and by attacking the father, it could offend the wife. Next, Julius Caesar conquered Gaul, and once again, he expanded his power. Gaul is located in modern day France, and is a European region. Caesar wanted to conquer Gaul so that he would become even more famous, and so that he could control the trade of Gaul, so he raised troops to face them. In the first battle, he and his troops built a 16 foot tall wall to surprise the Gauls, and so that the Romans could defeat the Gauls. Caesar was often outnumbered in his fights against the Gauls, but he still fought them, and did not give up. Vercingetorix tried to beat Caesar’s troops by starving them, but it did not work.
