1917 until the 1930s?
During the period of 1917 to 1930s, huge changes occurred in Russia after the October revolution when Provisional government was toppled and Bolsheviks gained power. Lenin, who was not only leading this revolution but also made incredible contributions during his time as the leader of Russia afterwards, therefore, is considered as one of the most significant people because of the transformation of Russia during this time period. In this essay I would look at role of Lenin specifically at Economic, Social and Political impacts, analyse and measure Lenin’s contributions to both long term and short term changes in these fields.

Moreover, peasants were forced to hand over large present of their surplus food and it was possible for them to be shot if they refused to. War Communism is significant because it did supported Red Army during Civil War time efficiently however at the same time it caused huge trouble as peasant refused to produce any more food than needed to eat. These led to food shortages and eventually caused a serous famine which killed over 7 million of Russian population. At that time grain production decreases by 30% compared to it under Tsar and there was even cannibalism found due to the famine. After the Civil War, Lenin brought in the NEP in which contained some capitalist elements. Similar to the War Communism, In NEP, heavy and vital industries like steel were taken over by government and production was planned and organised by the country as well. In order to seize power, communists started the Bolshevik Revolution by the end of October 1917 and were a total success so that The October Revolution is one of the most important events in Russia history as it brought huge changes in economic and politic for example the creation of one party state and the introduction of communism to Russia. Lenin was significant as he planned the revolution and made major effects on victory of October revolution .In April Lenin introduced his radical programme of April these “peace, land and bread.” which was calling for an end of war and at that time Bolsheviks was the only party demanding Russia to pull out of war, this gained Bolshevik thousands of supporters as most people were unwilling to fight the war. Lenin also promised reform to peasants and improvement of working conditions because he knew that support of peasants and workers were vital as they made up the most of Russia – and they were now not willing to support provisional government who ignored their demand. April these secured the revolution to have fairly over 800,000 supporters, even the military unit was loyal to Bolsheviks. Lenin was significant as he helped Bolshevik gained supporters.
