Everyone knows who Martin Luther King Jr is. He was born in 1929 in Atlanta, GA, and was killed 1968 in Memphis, TN. King Jr. played a crucial role in the civil rights movement. He lead many non-violent protests, and he believed in fighting hatred with love. He said that “darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that” and “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” (King Jr, 1963). There are people like Gandhi, who influenced Dr. King Jr’s life. Gandhi believed in love and peaceful change. He preached “You must be the change you wish to see in the world” and “An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.” King Jr also is an inspiration to many through the …show more content…

With the vision egg, he said to remember when MLK gave a speech at the March on Washington in 1963 where he said “Yes we can, Yes you can” so basically change starts with one person and then other people join in. He gave us an empathy egg because we have to feel what others feel; we have to walk a mile in their shoes, so we know what they are going through and how to help. The next egg is responsibility, meaning that we have to work together to make a difference. Think do I have a role to play in all the issues? He then gave us persistence because it is key in being able to create change. If you don’t give up, you will eventually achieve what you want. The fifth egg is history. He gave us this egg so we don’t repeat past mistakes. When we look forward, we also have to look back. The final egg that Pollard gave us was faith. We need to have faith to propel us through the tough times that are ahead. They ended the event with the song “Rise Up” by Audra Day. The chorus of the song shows the strength and resilience/perseverance that is apart of human nature and what MLK was trying to show that everyone has. This is also what is needed to make change.
