How Did Martin Luther King Jr Impact Society

Americans from ages nine to ninety-nine have heard the name Martin Luther King Jr. in their lifetimes. He is well known for his “I Have A Dream” speech and the numerous marches he participated in. For many Americans, he is someone that they look up to and many more aspire to have the courage that he had. Yet, what most look over when they imagine Dr. King’s impact on society, is his impact on the economy. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote in his “I Have a Dream” speech, “And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice” (King). This quote is a cry for freedom and equality, yet it is as well, a cry for equal pay and equal opportunity. Equal opportunity puts more men and women, more believers and non-believers, more ethnic backgrounds, to work. This allowed for our economy to burst with more product. In this book, he planned a way for Americans to have a guaranteed income. This was not a minimum wage, but instead, it was a plan for all Americans to make a standard of living salary (Weissmann, 2013). He realized that wiping out poverty and the poor was not going to be a possibility, but his thoughts have been considered in decisions. He fought for economic stability for the American people. His thoughts influenced how people see the economy today. By standing up for economic equality, he insured the economy would grow in production. If people are not happy with their salary or their work surroundings, the production rate is sure to
